Merry Christmas One and All!

It is indeed the most wonderful time of the year! Here's our simple holiday celebration with my in-laws. I hope you all are having a great one.

Outfit Post: Dressin' Up Nice for the Holidays

It's been a very busy weekend. Been doing a lot of Christmas shopping since Friday. I am hoping all of you are having a great holiday so far. A little busy so I am going to post three outfits in this entry.

The H&M bag is my current obsession. Pretty sturdy and its faux leather is of good quality. Let's see how long this will last me. I am currently on a handbag-ban. I am not allowed to buy anything designer at the moment (poor me...) so when we went to Hongkong, that was the only handbag purchase I was allowed to do. Bought it at 299Hkd.

Lunch at Isdaan Tarlac

This is a long overdue post. We went to Isdaan, Tarlac just to have a quick lunch last November. If I am not mistaken this was the All Saints Day weekend. We took the SCTEX (Subic-Clark-Tarlac Expressway) route which made the trip a lot shorter. Took us two hours to get there and voila! It was packed. We were all starving as it was two o'clock in the afternoon. Way past lunch time!

While waiting, we took a stroll around the area that takes you somewhere at a park in Thailand. Amazing floating restaurants docked in fish ponds. They'd give you fish food for free. Somethings kids and adults alike would love to do.

 

After fifteen minutes we were finally seated, thank God! We were just a small group (all five of us) compared to the big families who came in ahead of us. Didn't have time to really scrutinize the menu as we were all hungry. Asked the waiter for the food that gets cooked the quickest so, we had the famous tacsiyapo chicken. Can barely remember the rest of what we ordered. Didn't even have the time to snap pictures of the food.  I am no connoisseur, but I am just used to my mom-in-law's culinary skills, so I'd say it's not very impressive. Just order the unique stuff on the menu. Next time you're planning on a trip to the North or Isdaan, don't attempt to go on a public holiday. For that quick anti-stress relieving activity, try the tacsiyapo wall. You can buy plates, mugs, cups, or even old tv's and throw them at the wall shouting tacsiyapo! It feels good to actually do that. My verdict: stop by on your way back from the North. Not worth the trip if you just came here for food. Eat somewhere else.

We pretty much survived the Christmas traffic and the enormous crowd at SM Megamall today. Yes, I know right? Of all places, Megamall. Can't argue with the fact that they got a good mix of high-low shops that one can easily check off his/her shopping list. Plus, it's nearest in my area considering how chaotic Edsa has become this season.

HK Beauty Haul

Hi everyone! I hope you're all having a good day so far. I want to share with you my recent make-up haul in HK. I bought some of the stuff at a store named SASA. I'd say it's pretty much a popular store since almost every corner in HK has it. They sell mostly Asian brands which I love! I was on a hunt for the Skin79 BB cream. I have been using it for a few months now and my skin is amazingly liking it. This particular brand is so hard to find in Manila so might as well stock up. I will tell you more about it soon.

Outfit Post: Winter in HK

It was refreshing to once again experience winter. My Guess faux shearling coat has been sleeping in the closet for almost a year. I could say that after this trip, it surely got a lot of mileage and could possibly retire. Why? The buttons all snapped off on our last day. Haha! Okay, let's get down to business. What I packed for a five day trip:

-cross body chain bag

When travelling on winter season and to places where the weather can get unpredictable in the late afternoon, dress up in layers. So you can take off piece by piece when the weather gets hot or cover up more when it gets chilly. And don't forget your scarf.

Just sharing a few pictures from our recent trip to HongKong. Such a vibrant, busy yet laid back city. We particularly enjoyed the food. Too much that we had mostly Chinese, Korean and Japanese cuisines for four days in a row. We tried to eat like the locals. I have to admit that I was still hesitant to try on their street food. We were afraid that our guts can't take it and end up getting sick during the trip. Luckily that didn't happen though. I have to make a different post about all the food we had in HK. We skipped Disneyland for now. Maybe in the future when we have kids to tag along. Anyway, there's a lot of photo ops you can do in HK without spending too much money. Just go head to the TSIM SHA TSUI area where the Avenue of the Stars is located as well as the old clock tower. At night, you can enjoy a magnificent view of Hongkong's Symphony of Lights show. Buy the Octopus card so you can use the MTR and the Bus system throughout your stay. You can save a lot and it is pretty convenient. It can get really busy during the rush hour. When I say busy, almost everyone else was like rushing even running and pushing to get on the train or on the escalators. There were a lot of directions available for most of the tourist spots in HK. Thank God! It was hard striking up a conversation or even asking a question because not everyone can understand you and most of them find it hard to speak English. We stayed at Cosmo Hotel Mongkok and it was a wise decision after all. The shuttle service was pretty convenient and most of our shopping has been done around that area. The Ladies market in Mongkok should not be missed. Make sure you know the art of haggling. Here's how: ask how much, if they tell you the price ask them for discount. If they don't give you at least 30-40 percent, walk away a little bit and act like you're not interested. And then they ask you to come back and name your price. Grab the chance and tell them the price you want. Easy. The Langham Place mall is pretty much an average mall connected to the MTR and a block away from the Ladies market. It shouldn't be missed. Pretty crowded in the late afternoon and dining is close to impossible at the food court. We're not sure if it has something to do with the holiday season coming up, but it's like a struggle to be able to find a seat and eat peacefully. If you're looking for high end shops and designer goods then go to Tsim Shat Tsu where you'll find all the designer labels you could imagine. For electronic goods and wholesale items, go to Sham Shui Po. My husband bought his laptop at the Golden Computer center. It was pretty cheap that we just couldn't let the opportunity pass since our old laptop needs a replacement. HongKong was indeed a shopping haven if you got the money to spend. If you can't find it in HongKong then it's impossible to get it somewhere. We feel that the five days we had in HK was never enough. There were still a lot of places we haven't gone to. I still need to save up a lot of courage to get on the twenty-five minute cable car ride to Ngong Ping and visit the Big Buddha. By then, we may have had kids and might as well visit Disneyland. For now, we're looking at Phuket for our next anniversary trip. Keeping my fingers crossed.
