Outfit Post: San Mateo Caltrain

Hello, everyone! I hope you are all having a great Saturday.
The husband took me out on a date (movie and lunch) at downtown San Mateo. I am not sure if we're getting older but the activities we do often doesn't involve a lot of physical strength lately.  All we do is eat, go shopping or watch a movie. I have to admit that shopping burns more calories than watching a movie. At least there's a bit of exercise right there. LOL.
I'm wearing the H&M top I bought on clearance a few days ago. It's a sequined encrusted top and I paid 5$ for it. Can't beat the price and who says you can't wear sequins during the day? To downplay the flashiness of the top, I wore it with my tattered boyfriend jeans, strappy sandals and leather jacket just in case it gets colder in the late afternoon.

 I love the low-heel in my sandals but since I am wearing it for the second time today, I feel like I'm gonna have blisters later. It's not broken in yet and the straps near my big toe is rubbing onto my skin. And oh, I got this sandals on the clearance rack at DSW last month.

How did your Saturday go? Tell me about it.

Outfit Post: Smurfette Sunday

 I feel like a boho princess and I am soo excited to be able to wear this Free People dress to church today. I got this at a good bargain the last time I went to Marshalls. I featured it in one of my haul post last week.
This look reminds me of Maria Mercedes, a free-spirited girl in the early nineties in the popular Mexican telenovela or tv series back then, which was a huge hit in the Philippines. Anyway, you can Google about it and see what I mean.
We met Smurfette at the mall earlier today and had the chance for a photo op. I was giddy like a kid. It was my first time to see the actual smurf mascot. It was an event sponsored by Sony and I guess an ad campaign for the upcoming movie.
The Sony guys were so friendly and offered to take our photo with Smurfette. I was shy to stay longer as we were the only adults with no kids in tow. They had a lot of activities for kids and pop-up mushroom cottages set up like the ones in the movie.
I hope you all had a smurfy Sunday!

Riri Woo Review In The Rhianna for MAC Summer Collection

After the gruesome experience of getting the Rhianna collection for MAC two weeks ago, I got the first shipping from the UPS guy earlier. I was kind of disappointed why it's taking them so long to ship the items. My husband ordered three batches of the collection since they limit your order to one per item in a single transaction. Bummer, right? Out of the three, I only got the Riri woo lipstick and the Hibiscus kiss blush and bronzer duo today.
 I've never worn red lipsticks before because I don't think I know how to carry it and I feel like it makes me look more mature. I was just not ready then. When I tried to swatch it on my wrist, I kind of like how it looks. Very Marilyn Monroe-ish..
 It is a retro matte finish and since I am no beauty guru, I've just learned from other people's blogs that the formulation for this kind of lipstick is very drying. Hmmm. Makes me a bit sad if that's the case. My lips are known to be dry most of the time if I don't constantly slather on some lip moisturizer.
 When I opened the Hibiscus kiss blush and bronzer duo, I was not impressed. It has very sheer application when I tried it on my face and the color pay-off wasn't that good. So I skipped it and used a different blush for the picture below. I used my trusty old Milani baked blush instead to give me that subtle glow.
I think I might have found the red lipstick that suits my skin tone. What do you guys think?

Update: 7/10/2013 : This is what happened to her after a week stored in my bag. Mind you, I live in San Mateo California more specifically in the Peninsula area and I think it is utterly ridiculous that the formulation of this lipstick is just so bad that it melted even if my bag has not been exposed to hot weather conditions. I know it's summer but it barely hits the nineties lately and I haven't been exposed to the sun for so long that might cause the lipstick to melt. It's absolutely ridiculous! The sides melted and the Rhianna signature got smeared and I've only worn this twice. I guess I'm better off selling the other lipstick then. It's not worth all the wait at all. I just think they should have done better with the formulation as I have other lipsticks from MAC and this didn't happen at all. What a bummer!

Outfit Post: Raspberry and Neutrals

  I am not sure what color I'm wearing but when I googled raspberry, it showed me the same palette. So I guess it's called raspberry. This was the dress I fell in love with at Marshalls yesterday. Yup, tossed it in the laundry last night and wore it today. Haha! I liked how it played well with the basic neutrals and the bag added balance to the color-blocked theme of the dress.
The dress is super soft jersey and very comfortable. Perfect for summer. I always layer a warm jacket because you'll never know when it gets cold here in California.
Sundays are a trip to the Joe's. Went home with three bags full of the good stuff.
{What I'm wearing: Dress- Design History, Belt- old, Plains and Prints, Jacket- American Rag, Sandals- DV by Dolce Vita, Bag- H&M)
Let me know your thoughts about my outfit pairings above. I hope you all had a wonderful weekend!

Target and Marshalls Haul

It's crazy how we always have this sporadic shopping on weekends with my husband. I am a bit scared that it has become a habit now. Lol. We didn't have anything else to do anyway so he asked me if I wanted to go to Target and so I said yes! Who wouldn't? I super love Target and it's always a treat going there.
{I'm wearing: Marc by Marc Jacobs Tee, Gap shorts, Kenneth Cole flipflops, Chanel sunnies and MK tote}
 The weather was warm and nice and was glad I can wear shorts and flip-flops. We initially agreed on looking for a vacuum cleaner for the apartment but ended up getting a cab home because I think we got a lot more stuff than expected. Haha!
Here's my mini-haul from Target.

 Here's what I picked up from Marshalls. Spent a bit much but I think the Free People dress on the left is too hard to pass up. The rest are well under 20 dollars and I was a happy camper and even allowed the husband to play his favorite Xbox game for the rest of the afternoon. Remember: a happy wife is a happy life.
We had lunch at Texas Armadillos and ordered mushroom burger for lunch. It was good and I liked it. Bridgepoint is a strip of shops so it's a decent place to eat and chill out after a long day of shopping.

I did try this hot sauce and I personally think that caption was overly stated. I'm not saying I have high tolerance for spicy food but for me it tasted just like Tabasco or Cholula.
Here's a picture of the mushroom burger.

My weekend keeps getting better each time. I hope you all are having a good one too!

Outfit Post: Sunday Green Day

{What I'm Wearing: Jeans- JBrand, Shirt- Zara, Blazer- Gap, Shoes- Sam Edelman, Belt- Plains and Prints, Bag- Michael Kors jetset tote}
 I miss our Sundays back home with our families and it's a bit difficult to come around that when it's just the two of us here. We came up with a typical Sunday routine after more than two months in San Mateo, California. We usually have lunch at Hillsdale mall after the twelve noon mass at St. Gregory's church. We tried going vegan yesterday and had this all-veggie pizza (I think it was artichoke and spinach on thin crust pizza) and salad (asparagus and arugula) at CPK, our new favorite pizza place.
We try to have healthier options when we eat out. It's not like we're a total health freak. I mean eating out isn't bad at all. Just know and learn the kind of ingredients and the calories that you get on the food you're ordering. Less meat, less oily and gluten-free or whatever.

{Butter cake with Haagen Daz vanilla ice cream}
With that said, it doesn't hurt to order dessert if you still have room for it. Give it a try. They're not kidding when they say it's good.

Ombre Jeans and Movie Date

{What I'm Wearing: Jersey Tee - Max Studio, Ombre jeans - Levi's, Leather flipflops - Kenneth Cole, Handbag - Michael Kors jetset tote, Scarf - H&M, Jersey Cardigan- thrifted, Sunglasses- Chanel, Watch- Tommy Hilfiger}
When you live in a place where you don't have a lot of friends or relatives, most of the time you are out of the house to watch a movie, eat out or go shopping to ward off homesickness. My husband and I try to make sure we make the most of our weekends together, his time out from work and my time out from all the house chores and cooking.

 We had dinner at this Korean restaurant called Gangnam chicken at downtown San Mateo. We liked the gangnam style chicken (popular dish in the menu) which we ate immediately without taking pictures of it. I guess we're too hungry and they had an assortment of refillable side dishes. The price is cheap and the food is good. So I'd give it a 5-star rating.
We watched Man of Steel and apart from the fact that Henry Cavil was something to ogle about the entire movie, it was okay. I wasn't very impressed with how the story rolled and the cinematography can be done better in my opinion. I'd give the movie 4 stars.
 My favorite part of the day was having this huge popcorn and my Care Bears gummy bears. How cute is that?

Weekly Favorites

 It's no-brainer that the best part of my week was getting my birthday present - the Tiffany box. Call it shallow but I was overly excited like a kid in a candy store the moment I walked in. Another reason for me to be thankful and stop worrying about the stuff I don't have..By "stuff" I don't mean materially. If you're one of the persons close to me you know what I mean. I might share it in one of my post in the future but I am not quite ready for it yet. Anyway, I do not want to dampen the mood but I am also extremely happy that I found a store that sells macarons, as I haven't found any store nearby that could match up to the Laduree ones. It was good in my opinion but not as good as what I've had in the past.
{Macarons from La Bloulange du Dome in Westfield Mall San Francisco}
This was another favorite of mine from the pastry section. I forgot what its name was but I am pretty sure this was a tart. Strawberry tart perhaps? Go check them out if you haven't or if you're visiting San Francisco on a tour. It's delicious paired with any of their brewed teas.

What have you been up to all week? Any recent restaurant discoveries? Feel free to share in the comment box below. Have a great week everyone!

Outfit Post: Stripes x Leopards

 Such a lovely weather today. Perfect time to go out and have lunch at the mall and a bit of grocery shopping.
 This is my kind effortless look. I am so in love with this boyfriend jeans I got at a good deal from American Eagle Outfitters. They fit me perfectly and they are incredibly comfortable. Wearing the right shoes and jewelry and it can take me from day to night.
{What I'm wearing: Jeans- American Eagle Outfitters, Shirt- Zara basic tee, Blazer - Gap, Shoes- Sam Edelman, Bag- Michael Kors jetset tote, Sunglasses - Chanel, Watch - Tommy Hilfiger, Necklace- Tiffany and Co}
To make my outfit a little less boring, I wore my pointy leopard flats from Sam Edelman which I got from a goodwill store. Adding a pop of color will pull the look together for an instant summer chic.

Weekly Favorites

I always look forward to my alone time each week to do a bit of window shopping at Hillsdale mall or challenge myself into looking for stuff or clothes under 20 bucks. For two straight weeks now, I've been having a lot of luck. I scored these.
{Peplum top and blazer from H&M}
We capped the memorial day weekend by visiting one of my favorite thrift or goodwill shop called "Plato's closet" in downtown San Mateo. I first discovered them when we were visiting our friends in Wisconsin back in 2011. I've bought a lot of good quality stuff at a very low price. The trick when shopping at flea markets or thrift shops is to bear in mind the kind of items you're looking for. I have been on a hut for a good cargo pants and it was such a pleasant surprise to find one there!
{J Brand houlihan jeans is love! Sam Edelman leopard print flats, Ed Hardy tee new with tag}
{An ice-cold moscato and a movie in our new TV. Yay!}

Cheers to a wonderful week ahead!

Weekly Favorites

If I'm too lazy to whip up anything for breakfast, here's our go to meal: cereal, almond milk and lots of berries.

My husband still haven't decided what TV to get, so I'm stuck watching online streaming on the laptop. Here's my current favorite, Faith, a Korean series. I'm in love with Lee Min Ho, although my husband thinks he's gay.

During my weekly trip to the mall sometime last week, I scored these items from H&M for 20$. How fab! I might just make it a weekly habit :)

My trip won't be complete without a visit to my favorite shoe store, DSW. Don't judge, I'm no shopaholic. I just love to go around the shelves of shoes and trying them on.

On second thought, I think this Franco Sarto wedge sandal is really cute for summer. I couldn't resist the price and I figured it's going to go well with my new Michael Kors tote. It's on clearance at 40% off. Not bad, huh? Perfect summer accessory.

How about you? What have you been up to lately?

Weekly Favorites

I've been doing a lot of shopping the past weekend and I found some really awesome deal. Don't you just love it when you find something good at a hard-to-resist price?
So this post might come every week or so and I will share with you some of the "good stuff" I scored.
{This was a steal at Marshalls. Michael Kors jetset tote size small.The only piece left. Paid 140$, original 229$}
{American Eagle Outfitters' boyfriend jeans, Paid 18$, original 40$}
Now, this isn't bought at a discount but been hearing so much about this and went in and caved. I'll give you an update about this face primer soon.

I was hoping this might help me cut down drying my long hair after a good shower. I'll see if it works.

Nothing brightens up my day but a bright yellow Sunflower at my table. Got the owl vase at Marshalls for 3$ .

How about you? Did you find any great deals lately?
